New Peter Kay documentary in the works
Peter Kay has already been the subject of at least four documentaries – and now a fifth is in the pipeline.
And this time the comedian is collaborating with the film-makers, by putting out an appeal for fans to share their stories of how his comedy has ‘played such an important part in your life’
A notice posted to the 2.9million followers of Kay’s official Facebook page added: ‘We want to include clips from Peter's biggest fans on their way to see him perform live. Perhaps you're travelling from abroad to see him? Maybe you're planning to surprise a family member with tickets?’
It is not known what channel has commissioned the documentary, if any, but it is being made Leeds-based production company Wise Owl Films. The company has previously worked on shows about Tina Turner, Nirvana, Brooklyn Nine Nine and Bobby Ball.
Kay is now on his first stand-up tour in 11 years, entitled Better Late Than Never, with arena dates stretching into 2025.
Last week, the comedian seemed to confirm Car Share would not be returning, five years after the last episode aired. He has registered documents to wind up his company Good Night Vienna Productions (Car Share), which made the BBC One show.
Anyone over 18 wanting to appear in the documentary should visit the Wise Own website by February 24 and submit a video clip of yourself explaining why you love Peter, what his comedy means to you and when you're going to see him.
The previous documentaries about Kay are:
2019: Peter Kay: Comedy Genius - In His Own Words for Channel 5
2016: The Peter Kay Story for Channel 5
2015: Peter Kay - 20 Years Of Funny for BBC One
2005: Peter Kay: The Early Years for Comedy Central.
Meanwhile, his comedy material has been repackaged for four series of Peter Kay's Comedy Shuffle for BBC One and Peter Kay's Top 43 Greatest Comedy Moments for Channel 4.
