Munya Chawawa pilots Channel 4 comedy show
Munya Chawawa is piloting a sketch comedy show for Channel 4, it has been reported.
According to showbiz website Deadline, The Late Night Munyaverse will feature a mix of studio and filmed skits – although the pilot will not be broadcast.
If picked up, it will cement the British-Zimbabwean comedian’s relationship with Channel 4. He has previously competed in Taskmaster, fronted the documentary How to Survive a Dictator, about Robert Mugabe and presented the entertainment format Complaints Welcome with Tom Allen and Jessica Knappett.
Last week, he played Prince Charles in the Prince Andrew musical created by Kieran Hodgson.
Online, Chawawa’s sketches, often parodies of hit songs, have attracted 32million views on TikTok. His best known online alter-ego is the posh drill rapper Unknown P.
The Late Night Munyaverse produced by Rumpus Media, which makes The Misadventures of Romesh Ranganathan for BBC2.
