Peter Kay extends his tour to 2025

As virtual queues for tickets top 400,000

More dates have been added to Peter Kay’s tour, extending it to April 2025.

The news comes as ticket sites struggled to cope with demand for the initial batch of dates for his first tour in 12 years.

Tickets went on sale at 10am today, with fans logging into Tickemaster finding themselves on a waiting list of more than 400,000 people. Virtual queues to buy tickets were running into several hours.

Some of those who have got through have been quick to put them on resale sites at a hefty profit, with sites such as Viagogo offering the cheapest tickets at around three times their £35 face value. Some are asking for more than £500 a seat.

The new shows include a monthly residency at Manchester’s AO Arena taking him from December 2 this year through to July 2025. And he has extended a similar residency at London’s O2 which had due to end in December 2023 through to February 2025.

More 2024 dates have also been added in Sheffield, Birmingham and Leeds.

Kay tweeted today: 'Absolutely blown away by the ticket sales so far especially as some of the shows aren't for a good while yet, but don't worry, we'll have a laugh when we're all together.

'PS: Matt Hancock is a proper bell-end.'

When he announced the tour, Kay said: ‘It’s good to get back to what I love doing best, stand-up comedy and if there’s ever a time people need a laugh it’s now.’

It comes after he cancelled his planned 2017 stage comeback just days after announcing it, citing unforeseen family reasons.
