Brian and Charles up for film awards
Brian and Charles – the quirky mockmentary based around David Earl’s alter-ego Brian Gittins – has been nominated in two categories of the British Independent Film Awards.
Earl and his co-writer Chris Hayward are up for best debut screenwriter, while the producer Rupert Majendie has been nominated for breakthrough producer. He is also the man behind Dave’s forthcoming Live At The Moth Club (interview)
The film, directed by Jim Archer, revolves around a lonely inventor in rural Wales, who manages to create a sentient robot from a mannequin’s head and a washing machine. The film previously won the audience favourite award at this year’s Sundance Film Festival: London
Meanwhile, Katy Brand has been nominated for best screenplay for Good Luck to You, Leo Grande, which is also nominated for best British independent film, best director for Sophie Hyde, Best Screenplay and best joint lead performance for stars Daryl McCormack and r Emma Thompson.
Winners will be announced at a ceremony on December 4.
