How To Survive A Dictator heading to Channel 4

Munya Chawawa is front a Channel 4 documentary about Robert Mugabe.

The British-Zimbabwean comic will interview friends, family and foes of the dictator and ‘go head-to-head with a Mugabe ally accused of brutal violence and intimidation’ trade website Broadcast reports.

The hour-long show, ow to Survive A Dictator, will also feature comedy sketches and archive footage.

Chawawa was born in Derby but grew up in Zimbabwe, before his family moved back to the UK.

He told Broadcast: ‘I never fully understood why I had to leave and this documentary, for me, was a chance to uncover that. But let me tell you: it’s an emotional rollercoaster, especially after I found out my filming visa was rejected.

‘But in true sneaky, satirist style - we managed to tell the story another way – and I can’t wait for people to see it."

Morgan Roberts, one of the executive producers for programme-makers Rumpus Media said: ‘Munya’s brilliant ability to blend intelligence, insight, heart and humour with Cecil Rhodes impersonations is a rare and beautiful gift.’
