Comic leaves Ayrshire’s West FM after six years

Comedian Billy Kirkwood is quitting his morning show on Ayrshire’s West FM after six years.

The stand-up will host the last episode of his 6am to 10am breakfast show on October 28.

He told his listeners: ‘I leave West FM with nothing but love and I’m truly going to miss being a part of people’s mornings; thinking about it breaks my heart how much I'll miss it.

‘The support and love we’ve had over the years has been overwhelming, you’ll never know how much it's meant, it’s been a highlight of my life being an Ayrshire boy hosting Ayrshire show.

‘And we got to make it unique, different and funny compared to other shows. During my time it was the most listened to show in the station’s history and I’ll always be so proud of that. There will be a lot of tears before the last Billy Kirkwood at Breakfast.’

He is leaving to pursue new projects including working with autistic children – having three sons with the condition himself – and working with local events promoters Bring It On.
