Amused Moose 2022 winners revealed

Untapped talent at the Edinburgh Fringe

Richard David-Caine, Chelsea Birkby and Nicholls & Brown have won Amused Moose Comedy Awards at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

The awards focus on untapped, unrepresented talent – and all the winners are performing their debut shows at the festival.

Sometime children’s TV actor David-Caine won the award for Outstanding Edinburgh Fringe show for his energetic character hour, Tall Dark and Anxious.

Grubby Little Mitts –  as performed by double act Nicholls & Brown – was named top sketch show  and Chelsea Birkby won the award for debut show,  for No More Mr Nice Chelsea.

The other shortlisted acts were:

  • Adam Flood: Clayhead (Just The Tonic @ The Mash House)
  • Christian Brighty: Playboy (Pleasance Courtyard)
  • Phil Green: 90s Boy - Blair, The Lovegun And Me (PBH's Free Fringe@ Banshee Labyrinth)
  • Will Mars: My Life in One-Liners (Gilded Balloon Patter Hoose)

There is no prize beyond a trophy - and the kudos – but there are plans to stage some of the nominated shows at London’s Soho Theatre in the autumn.
