Caper comedy moves to the Costa Del Crime

Crime-comedy caper The Curse is to return for a second series, Channel 4 has announced.

The second run will reunite stars Tom Davis, Steve Stamp and Allan Mustafa with their co-star Emer Kenny.

Written by the male members of the cast with director James De Frond the second season joins the gang 18 months after the dramatic finale of the first series, which aired in February.

It’s now 1985 with many of the unlikely now residing in the sunny Costa Del Sol, then a safe haven for UK Criminal due to the lack of an extradition treaty between Britain and Spain. Meanwhile, Big Mick is in prison awaiting trial, enjoying the fame associated with being involved in the biggest gold heist in history

Davis said: ‘We’ve been blown away by the response to the first series. Excited to be upping the ante and heading Back To The 80s for some fun in the sun. Espana, baby!’

And Steve Stamp added: ‘Taking these idiots to Spain is going to be incredible. Hopefully, we’ve got a decent budget cos we’re gonna need A LOT of factor 50.’

Inspired by the infamous Brink's-Mat heist, the show is made by De Frond and Davis's production company, Shiny Button, the

Channel 4 commissioning executive Joe Hullait said: ‘We’re so excited that this comedy supergroup are returning for another instalment of The Curse and cannot wait to see what exile in Spain looks like for the gang. It’s going to be comedy gold.’
