RIP to two sitcom stars
Sitcom stars Josephine Tewson and Bruce Montague have both died this week, their agents have announced.
Tewson died at 91 at Denville Hall, a retirement home for actors in Northwood, North West London.
She played who played Hyacinth Bucket’s neighbour Elizabeth Warden in Keeping Up Appearances and Miss Davenport in Last Of The Summer Wine,
And Bruce Montague, who played Leonard Dunn in Butterflies, opposite Wendy Craig, has died at 83.
His agents, Belfield and Ward, tweeted: ‘We are very sad to report that the glorious Bruce Montague has passed away. Such a gentleman and he will be sorely missed. What a talent and what a career on stage and screen! From Butterflies to more recently Funny Girl & 42nd St Rest well darling man.’
Tributes have been paid to both actors, with former EastEnders actress Debbie Arnold posting: ‘So sad we lost 2 wonderful people firstly Bruce Montague and now 2 days later -Josephine Tewson… I had the honour of travelling the world and Uk with these comedy greats ending up in the West End. We had such fun.’
