Finding fame at the Fringe
Here’s our pick of the best comedy programmes on TV, radio and on demand this week:
Sunday August 7
DESERT ISLAND DISCS REVISITED: To mark the Edinburgh Fringe, a rerun of the 2013 episode featuring Miranda Hart. She first attended the festival in 1994, an experience she has herself described as ‘terrible’. But, she wasn’t put off and returned five more times, with her 2005 performance shaping her hugely successful TV series. Her eight disc selections range from pop to classical, with her favourite being Morecambe & Wise’s Bring Me Sunshine. Miranda’s book choice is the complete works of Margaret Luce and her luxury item is the rather modest Wimbledon Centre Court, complete with racquet, balls and tennis ball launcher. Radio 4 Extra, 10am and BBC Sounds
