Ellie Taylor to Cheat with Danny Dyer
Ellie Taylor is to front a new quiz show for Netflix alongside EastEnders star Danny Dyer.
The comedian will hosting Cheat, in which contestants can either use their general knowledge skills or blag their way to £50,000.
She said: ‘Cheat has all the elements I want in a quiz show; great questions, unashamed cheating and Danny Dyer calling me "Treacle" at least once per episode.’
And Dyer said of the show, which is due to air next year: ‘Expect enormous wins, loads of slippery people cheating and banter with the one and only Ellie Taylor.’
Producers Talkback call the show ‘a ground-breaking high-stakes quiz show where contestants can literally cheat their way to a fortune as long as they don't get caught.
‘In every episode, four brave players have their knowledge put to the ultimate test, as they fight it out over three rounds to avoid elimination and build a jackpot worth up to £50,000. But there’s one crucial twist in this brand-new quiz show: if you don’t know the answer, it pays to Cheat.’
The first episode is being taped in front of a live audience tonight, with another 12 recording sessions over the month. Free tickets are available here.
As well as her stand-up work, Taylor is currently hosting Channel 4’s Let’s Make a Love Scene in which singletons recreate steamy sex scenes from the movies in a bid to find love. Friday’s opening episode attracted 500,000 viewers.
Her other presenting credits include The Mash Report, The Great Pottery Throw Down and Snog, Marry, Avoid – while as an actor she has appeared in Ted Lasso and Plebs.
Cheat is the first UK-based quiz show on the streaming platform, which recently launched Bullsh*t The Gameshow, hosted by Howie Mandel, which also combines general knowledge with bluffing.
The new show is based on an original idea by Giles Boden, whose credits include Alan Carr’s Epic Gameshow and A League of Their Own.
Dyer is leaving his EastEnders role as Mick Carter later this year, after nine years as the Queen Vic landlord. He also hosts BBC One's The Wall.
