Comedian Axel Blake gets BGT's Golden Buzzer
Simon Cowell has picked comedian Axel Blake as his Golden Buzzer act in the new season of Britain's Got Talent.
The London-based stand-up spoke about naming his Covid baby Pfizer, domestic arguments and women who do their make-up on the Tube.
All the judges gave him a standing ovation, and Cowell said the competition ‘needed acts like him’ after the pandemic.
Fellow judge David Walliams said: ‘A comedy superstar is born tonight on that stage. So funny. You made it all seem so effortless and you’ve got a wonderful, so likeable personality, and everything you said was brilliantly funny and original/
The 33-year-old is a kitchen fitter from West London and has built a reputation online. In 2020 he recorded a comedy special at the IndigO2 in London which is still available on Amazon Prime Video.
That upset some viewers of the ITV show, who complained they were 'fed up of professionals getting [the] golden buzzer' - after professional singer Loren Allred also sailed through to the next round.
However, others were fans, praising Blake as 'incredible'.
