Jon Holmes up for THREE of radio's Aria awards
Jon Holmes dominates the comedy category of this year’s Aria Awards celebrating the best in radio and podcasts.
Three of his shows – Radio 4's The Skewer, the podcast Cold Case Crime Cuts, and Absolute Radio's Rockanory – have been nominated. All are made by his company Unusual Productions.
Shows from Rosie Jones, Jamali Maddix and Rhys James are also on the shortlist, which is
- Cold Case Crime Cuts, spoof true crime podcast featuring Jon Holmes and made by Unusual Productions
- Jamali Maddix: Spooky Sh*t, Audible podcast in which he asks comics and celebrities to share their spookiest real-life tales and uncanny experiences. Made by Novel.
- Rhys James: Rhysearch, in which the comedian ‘investigates topics the rest of us are too busy to be bothered with’. Made by BBC Studios Audio, for Radio 4
- Rockanory. Absolute Radio's first scripted comedy series features Shaun Keaveny reading a story based on unlikely apocryphal rock n'roll legends, written by Jon Holmes in the style of a children’s bedtime story. Made by Unusual Productions.
- Rosie Jones: Box Ticker Too. The comic’s stand-up show about ‘her diversity-ticking boxes’ made by Dabster Productions, for BBC Radio 4
- The Skewer. Jon Holmes’s satirical audio mash-up, made by Unusual Productions, for BBC Radio 4.
Winners of the awards, handed out by The Radio Academy, will be revealed on May 3 at an event at London’s Adelphi Theatre hosted by Radio 2 presenter Rylan.
