Sean Lock up for a posthumous Bafta
Sean Lock has been nominated for a posthumous Bafta for his role on 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
The comic is up for best entertainment award alongside Joe Lycett, Michael McIntyre, Alison Hammond, Big Zuu and Graham Norton.
In an extraordinary diary clash, the Bafta nominees were released this morning just hours after the Royal Television Society announced the winner of their awards, with winners including Mo Gilligan – who scooped a trio of accolades – Bloods’ Samson Kayo and Anjana Vasan from We Are Lady Parts.
All are also up for Baftas.

It’s A Sin led the Bafta shortlists with 11 nominees.
The TV awards ceremony takes place on Sunday May 8, hosted by Richard Ayoade and screened on BBC One from London's Royal Festival Hall. The craft awards will take place on Sunday April 24 at The Brewery in London.
This morning’s announcement comes hours after the RTS Programme Awards were handed out last night.
Adjani Salmon won the breakthrough award for his BBC comedy pilot Dreaming Whilst Black, with judges describing him as ‘giving a performance that supported the writing really deftly…a performer whose work is charismatic and charming…a star in the making’.
Anjana Vasan won best female comedy performance for her ‘original, authentic and very funny’ role as Amina in Channel 4’s We Are Lady Parts, Sophie Willan and Katy Wix had also been nominated for Alma's Not Normal and Stath Lets Flats respectively.
Lady Parts creator Nida Manzoor also won the comedy writer accolade for a script that ‘was unpredictable, subverted stereotypes and kept you laughing throughout’. Fellow nominees were Mae Martin and Joe Hampson for Feel Good, and Holly Walsh, Helen Serafinowicz and Barunka O’Shaughnessy for Motherland.
Samson Kayo won best male comedy performance for his starring role in Bloods – a performance judges described as ‘one of real heart, warmth and originality’. Nick Mohammed and Adeel Akhtar had also been nominated for Intelligence and Back to Life respectively.
Alma's Not Normal won best scripted comedy, with the panel saying of Sophie Willan’s BBC Two show: ‘It’s laugh out loud funny but at times profound and heartbreaking, with wonderful writing throughout.’ Bloods and We Are Lady Parts had also been nominated.
The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan won the comedy entertainment category with judges praising how it ‘has a real sense of occasion, and is full of brilliantly entertaining format beats’.
Meanwhile, the revival of The Big Breakfast, which Gilligan co-hosted with AJ Odudu as part of Channel 4’s Black To Front day showcasing black talent, won the entertainment prize. Judges said the programme ‘felt both joyful and timely, with a special chemistry all of its own’. The pair also won best entertainment performance, ahead of fellow nominees Rosie Jones and Victoria Coren Mitchell
Munya Chawawa won best presenter for his YouTube series Race Around Britain which, judges said, ‘skilfully unpacks serious points with a light and mischievous touch, making tricky subject matter really accessible’. Steph McGovern and Joe Lycett had also been nominated.
The Rubbish World of Dave Spud, the CITV comedy adveture which features Johnny Vegas voicing the title role, was named best children’s programme
Graham Norton also attended to collect the outstanding contribution accolade he was awarded last year, but unable to collect in person because of Covid. Help screenwriter Jack Thorne received this years’ award
Awards chair Kenton Allen said: ‘To be reunited in person this evening at the RTS Programme Awards, amongst the incredible community of talent from the television industry, is a truly remarkable moment.

Adding to the flurry of awards activity, the Chortle Awards are also being held in London tonight.
