Denise Welch to star in psychic sitcom
Denise Welch is to co-star in a new Dave sitcom pilot about a psychic caught up in a murder investigation.
The show, Dead Canny, will star newcomer Sarah Balfour as Kay, a questionable young psychic from Consett, Co. Durham, whose ability to see dead people earns her a few quid cash-in-hand down the local pub.
Casting news was broken by the British Comedy Guide, but no details of what role the Loose Woman star will play were given.
It is one of four comedies being piloted by the broadcaster following a competition to find emerging talent.
Actors appearing in two of the other shows have also been revealed by the BCG.
Vahid Gold, who appears in Gold's upcoming comedy Newark, Newark will star in The Other Half, about a closeted half-Welsh, half-Iranian who gets the chance to escape his small town when he lands an internship in the big city: Bristol.
Paul Chahidi, Samantha Spiro and Justin Edwards all co-star in the pilot.
And newcomers Princess Khumalo, Tomi Ogbaro and Jordan Williams star in Holier Than Thou, about young adults struggling to reconcile their awakening sexuality with their Christian beliefs as members of a conservative, African Evangelical church.
No cast has yet been revealed for the fourth comedy, Perfect written by Laurence Clark, and revolving around three young disabled people who become unexpected friends when they meet on a pointless work preparation scheme.
