Taskmaster launches its own streaming platform

For ad-free episodes on demand

Taskmaster has launched its own worldwide streaming service.

The platform, Taskmaster SuperMax+, will allow fans across the world to watch ad-free episodes on demand.

In the UK, the service costs £5.99 a month - the same as the basic Netflix package - or £49.99 a year, after an initial 30-day free trial.

But the service will have a special focus on the North American market that the Avalon-made show has struggled to crack, despite its success in the UK and winning US fans on YouTube.

A US remake hosted by Reggie Watts, lasted for just one season on Comedy Central in the US in 2018, and two yeast later The CW brought the rights to the UK original, but dropped it from its broadcast channel after one episode.

Taskmaster SuperMax+ has launched today with the first three season, with the others up to series nine – the last that aired on Dave – being added in the coming weeks. Ultimately it will also host international versions and new unseen specials.

There have been local versions of the show in Sweden, Finland, Norway, Belgium, Spain and New Zealand and the British version has been broadcast in 94 countries.

Creator Alex Horne said in a video to launch the service: ‘I’ve been told quite a few times that not everyone everywhere can watch Taskmaster.

‘This is far from ideal and I’m sorry. However, there’s now something called Taskmaster SuperMax+, which is a worldwide streaming service with a great name where you’ll soon be able to watch all episodes ad-free; the complete global home for all things Taskmaster.

‘Season 9 will premier here, for instance, so people in North America can finally see me dressed up as a mermaid.

‘And f you're a fan of adverts, don't worry, the old YouTube episodes will stay there completely free.’
