Comedy Central to air Richard Hammond panel show
Comedy Central is to air Richard Hammond’s new science panel show, Brain Reaction.
Victoria Coren Mitchell and Johnny Vegas will be team captains in the show, while comedian Ria Lina – who has a PhD in viral bioinformatics – will appear as Hammond’s intellectual sidekick.
Chortle first reported that Hammond was making the six-part series through his production company Chimp Productions last month – when it had the working title Richard Hammond's Big Boom Theories.
Now trade magazine Broadcast now reports that Comedy Central will be its home.'
It quoted Hammond as saying: ‘Pop science is my absolute sweet spot in TV. I love shows that blend funny with facts and can’t wait to get going with this one.’
The original blurb for the show said: ‘Richard is known for his love of popular science and spectacular TV stunts, so this is the perfect opportunity for him to have fun, experimenting with the nation's favourite comedians.
‘There are two teams of celebrity guests, each with a comedy team captain, ready and willing to be put to the test. Expect fireballs, giggles galore and more than a glimpse of scientific silliness.’
