Comedians up for LGBT awards 2022
Joe Lycett, Alan Carr and Mawaan Rizwan are among the nominees for this year’s British LGBT Awards.
Lycett and Carr have been shortlisted in the broadcast journalist or host award alongside the likes of Rylan Clark, Vogue editor Edward Enninful and broadcaster Owain Wyn Evans.
Meanwhile, Rizwan has been recognised in the online influencer category.
Netflix comedy Sex Education is also in the running for the best media moment for its non-binary representation in a category that also hails RuPaul's Drag Race, a BBC Freddie Mercury documentary and Strictly Come Dancing’s first same-sex couple.
Music stars Olly Alexander, Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa and Lady Leshurr are among the nominees in other categories.
British LGBT Awards founder Sarah Garrett said: 'These awards shine a light on those who have stood shoulder-to-shoulder with the LGBT+ community, during what has been another very challenging 12 months for the community.
‘The nominees, which include an exciting mix of famous LGBT+ faces, allies and organisations have all demonstrated a commitment to advancing LGBT+ rights.
'The awards on 24 June will be a huge celebration of our culture.'
