Chris McCausland to host Radio 4 panel show
Chris McCausland is to host a new Radio 4 panel show based around sounds.
In the programme, You Heard It Here First, the comic will ask a panel of comedians ‘to live in an audio only world, deciphering brainteaser sound cues for points and pride whilst trying not to muck about too much along the way’.
McCausland, a News Quiz regular, lost his eyesight because of the genetic condition retinitis pigmentosa and devised the format of the new show.
News of You Heard It Here First – which will be piloted next month – comes as he expands his stand-up tour Speaky Blinder to more than 100 dates, starting on March 31.
In the show, McCausland covers the ‘stresses and strains of parenthood, a busy career, the rat race of everyday existence’ – but with the added difficulties being blind brings.
He has appeared on Live at the Apollo three times – acting as host for his last appearance – as well as Have I Got News for You, Would I Lie to You?, QI, The Last Leg and 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown.
The pilot of You Heard It Here First will be recorded at The Backyard Comedy Club in Bethnal Green, East London, on March 9. Free audience tickets are available from the BBC.
