Adam Kay announces arena tour – and a new book
Adam Kay has announced his first arena tour and another volume of memoirs just as the adaptation of his bestselling This Is Going to Hurt hits TV screens.
The junior doctor turned comedian will write about what happened after he left the NHS in Undoctored: The Story Of A Medic Who Ran Out Of Patients.
Publishers Trapeze, which will release the book in September, said: ‘In his most honest and incisive book yet, he reflects on what's happened since hanging up his scrubs and examines a life inextricably bound up with medicine. Battered and bruised from his time on the NHS frontline, Kay looks back, moves forwards and opens up some old wounds.’
And today Kay announced his biggest tour yet, entitled This Is Going to Hurt…More.
Visiting 13 arenas in September, the show will feature entries from his junior doctor diaries as well as new stories from his forthcoming book.
The news was announced as the TV version of the show, written by Kay and starring Ben Whishaw in the lead role, starts on BBC One tomorrow.
Kay said: ‘It feels like the natural progression of my surreal 2022 to go from Ben Whishaw playing me on television to performing at Wembley. 2023’s really going to have up its game – perhaps I’ll be made king or move to Jupiter.
‘I can’t wait to get This Is Going To Hurt… More out on the road and subject the UK to more of my repulsive stories.'
The full tour schedule is here and tickets will go on sale on Friday at 10am
