Mrs Brown's Boys misses the Christmas top ten

...for the first time in eight years

Mrs Brown’s Boys failed to make the top ten Christmas Day shows for the first time in eight years.

Brendan O’Carroll’s sitcom was the 11th most-watched programme on December 25, attracting 2.8million viewers to BBC One at 10.20pm.

The most-watch programme was the Queen’s Speech, with 8.9million viewers across all channels.

No. 2 was the Strictly Christmas special with 5.8million, then Call The Midwife with 4.7million and Michael McIntyre game show The Wheel at 4.6million.

BBC One dominated the ratings, with the highest-rated ITV programme, Coronation Street, at No. 8 with 3.2million.

In the Christmas Day episode,  Agnes Brown was recruited to the church choir, while Dermot and Buster organised  a murder-mystery night.

A second Mrs Brown's Boys special airs on New Year's Day at 10pm, with Grandad’s brother Mickey fresh out of prison and paying a visit to the family.
