Kunt makes No5 again

Boris Johnson song charts high, but Ladbaby hits No1

Kunt has made No 5 in the charts for the second year running with his sweary Boris Johnson song.

The comedian and his backing band sold 53,000 copies in the past week – but were beaten to the coveted No1 by Ladbaby, who set a record by topping the festive chart for the fourth year runnon.

Sausage Rolls For Everyone featured Ed Sheeran and Elton John, whose own song, Merry Christmas was No2.

Kunt’s Boris Johnson Is Still A Fucking Cunt – which cannot by its very title get any mainstream airplay was also outsold by the perennial favourites Last Christmas by Wham and All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah Carey.

After the results were named Kunt thanked those who had bought and supported the track ‘despite almost total press/radio/media blackout’.

And Cassetteboy, who provided one of the many remixes, said: ‘Number 5 is an amazing achievement, thank you all so much. And the journey was as much fun as the destination. Shame we didn't at least make it to Number Two though, cos as well as being a f***ing c***, Boris Johnson is also a massive shit.’

On downloads, the Kunts did make No2, behind Ladbaby.

And Laura’s Gone, from Adam Rowe and Dan Nightingale’s Have A Word comedy podcast made No4  in the download charts, but failed to make the top 100 overall. The chart takes into account downloads, physical sales, airplay and streaming, both paid and free.

Before the charts were revealed, LadBaby singer Mark Hoyle hit out at The Kunts for trying to take their crown.

He said: ‘It takes a certain sort of person to download a song with that in the title, but you never know.

‘There’s definitely an element that people aren’t happy with this government, but our song is for charity – I don’t believe theirs is – and ours is trying to raise more money than ever for food banks.

‘It’s something that is even more important given everything that is going on.’

But Kunt hit back even harder, saying: ‘As regards Mark Hoyle’s comments that "it takes a certain sort of person to download a song with that in the title", I agree with him wholeheartedly.

‘It takes the sort of person that is prepared to look beyond the tepid diarrhoea that is pumped into people’s consciousness via mainstream TV, radio and the tabloid newspapers.

‘The sort of person that is prepared stand up for what they believe in and call out the government on their lies, cover-ups and corruption.

‘The sort of person who can see that it was the Conservatives’ politics of selfishness, misery and deprivation that caused this country to need food banks in the first place."

‘We may be vulgar in the language we use to get our point across but we would not be so vulgar as to use food banks to hawk records, increase our profile or sign lucrative sponsorship deals.

‘Let me be clear, we would not stoop to using poverty, hunger and despair to promote our career like we believe LadBaby have done in this year’s Christmas number one campaign.’
