Kunt at No5 in the midweek charts
The Kunts’ sweary Boris Johnson song has entered the midweek chart at No 5.
Boris Johnson Is Still A Fucking Cunt, is also the second most-downloaded track of the week so far, according to The Official Chart Company.
Eleven remixes of the track have been released to maximise the chances of a good chart showing, as each download counts as a separate sale.
Last year, the song made No 5 in the festive rundown, even though the very title – and the fact it’s based on paedophile Gary Glitter’s track Rock and Roll – means it is unlikely to get any airplay.
A couple of the remixes, however, are deemed ‘safe for work’ with the swearing removed:
Meanwhile, Laura’s Gone, the charity single from Have A Word Podcast comics Adam Rowe and Dan Nightingale and musician Finlay K, is tracking to enter the chart at Number 39. The track takes its title from a running gag on the show, in which Rowe imagines circumstances in which Nightingale's wife might have left him.
Social media act LadBaby is on course to make chart history by topping the charts for a fourth time with Sausage Rolls For Everyone, a charity song in aid of The Trussell Trust food bank which features Ed Sheeran and Elton John
If the duo, Mark and Roxanne Hoyle, do manage to top the chart they would be the first act ever to achieve four consecutive Christmas No 1s, beating The Beatles and Spice Girls who each have three.
The song it is based on, Merry Christmas, is at No 2 in the midweek charts.
Wham’s Last Christmas and Mariah Carey’s All I Want For Christmas Is You are also performing well, thanks largely to streaming.
The cut-off for sales and streams to count is 11.59pm on Thursday. The final charts will be revealed by Scot Mills on Radio 1 from 4pm on Christmas Eve.
