Brett Goldstein up for a Golden Globe award
Brett Goldstein has been nominated for a Golden Globe award.
The comic is up for Best Actor in a Supporting Role on a TV Series for his role as Roy Kent in Ted Lasso.
He is up against Billy Crudup and Mark Duplass for The Morning Show; Kieran Culkin for Succession and O Yeong-Su for Squid Game.
In September, Goldstein won the Emmy award for the same category for his role in the show, on which he is also a writer.
Ted Lasso, about an American coaching an English football club, is also up for the best TV show in the musical and comedy section against The Great, Hacks, Only Murders in the Building and Reservation Dogs.
Title star Jason Sudeikis is up for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy alongside Anthony Anderson for Black-ish; Nicholas Hoult for The Great and Steve Martin and Martin Short for Only Murders in the Building.
And co-star Hannah Waddingham is up for Best Supporting Actress in a TV Series alongside Jennifer Coolidge for The White Lotus; Kaitlyn Dever for Dopesick; Andie McDowell for Maid and Sarah Snook for Succession.
Shortlisted for Best Actress in a Musical/Comedy
TV Series are Hannah Einbender and Jean Smart for Hacks; Elle Fanning for The Great; Issa Rae for Insecure and Tracee Ellis Ross for Black-Ish.
Winners will be announced on January 9, although the ceremony will not air on NBC as usual following the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that organisers the awards.
It was accused of overlooking black talent last year, when the critically slated Emily In Paris was nominated but not the widely acclaimed I May Destroy You. It was then revealed there were no black members.
The association has promised to make changes.
