Famalam, Motherland and Staged have all been nominated for best comedy in the prestigious international Rose d’Or awards.
They face competition from Bo Burnham’s acclaimed Netflix special, Inside, as well as Icelandic show Journey, about two middle-aged men on a road trip, and Israel’s The New Black, about four ultra-Orthodox Jewish men
Elsewhere, Joe Lycett’s Got Your Back has been nominated in the reality and factual entertainment category.
It is up against The Rap Game UK, Long Lost Family: Born Without Trace, Married at First Sight and Australian shows Love On The Spectrum and You Can’t Ask That.
Taskmaster and A League of Their Own are vying for best studio entertainment porgramme, along with Strictly Come Dancing and The Masked Singer. The shortlist is rounded off with America’s Got Talent and Australia Talks.
And Horrible Histories Black History Special has been nominated in the children’s category alongside CBBC documentary Our School and programmes from the Netherlands, Belgium, Sweden and Norway.
Mark Rowland, chair of the 2021 judges, said: ‘Despite the very considerable production challenges faced during the pandemic, we’ve seen an amazing breadth of subjects and creative treatments – with production standards higher than ever. Congratulations to all the nominees on an amazing achievement.’
The winners will be announced at a virtual ceremony hosted by Sue Perkins on November 29.
A jury of 150 broadcast executives and producers came up with the shortlist from more than 750 entries across 12 categories.
