Second series for Tim Minchin's Upright

Milly Alcock also returns for a new mission in Queenland

Tim Minchin is to make a second series of his comedy drama Upright, broadcaster Sky has announced.

The musician and comedian will again star along Milly Alcock – who has joined Game of Thrones prequel series House of Dragons since being cast as feisty teenager Meg in the first series of the show.

In the eight new episodes, the pair will trade the desert of series one for the steamy tropics of far North Queensland as they hit the road, and the river, on a mission.

Minchin – who will again co-write and compose music for the series as well as starring as Lucky – said: "The experience of making Upright was such a joy, and audience reactions from all over the world were so incredibly positive and moving, we knew we had to send Meg and Lucky on another adventure.

‘There’s a lot of story still to tell, and such a fantastic team of people lined up to tell it.

The second series of Upright is currently in development, with filming to commence in Queensland next year. It is being made by Lingo Pictures for Sky and Now TV in the UK and Foxtel in Australia.

Minchin starts a second UK tour of his show Back in Aberdeen on Saturday. Tim Minchin tour dates and tickets.
