Meet The Richardsons scoops Broadcast Award
The Christmas edition of Meet The Richardson was named best comedy programme at the Broadcast Digital Awards last night.
It was one of four victories for broadcaster Dave – which also scooped the coveted channel of the year title.
Mel Giedroyc: Unforgivable was named best entertainment programme and Big Zuu’s Big Eats scooped the ‘gamechanger’ accolade, with the host tweeting: ‘We won our first award I’m crying in my yard’
Marcus Arthur, the chief executive of Dave’s parent company UKTV, said after the ceremony: ‘Very proud of @UKTV’s success at the #BroadcastDigi Awards tonight. Sending congratulations to all the teams involved in making our great programmes.’
Elsewhere in the awards, run by industry magazine Broadcast to celebrate non-terrestrial TV programmes, ITV2’s rap gameshow Don’t Hate The Playaz was named best lockdown programme in the comedy, entertainment and scripted category.
And Mission: Accessible in which Rosie Jones and other comedians explored UK adventure breaks suitable for disabled people, won the award for best content partnership, as it was made in conjunction with tourist group VisitEngland.
Meet The Richardsons At Christmas guest starred Johnny Vegas and Jason Donovan paying a festive visit to Jon Richardson and wife Lucy Beaumont, who co-wrote the series with Tim Reid.
