Michael McIntyre exports The Wheel to the US

With him as host

Michael McIntyre is exporting his BBC game show The Wheel to the US  – with him as host.

The comedian, who created the show with regular producing partner Dan Baldwin, has sold the format to NBC.

The move could make his career in the States when the show airs next year, following the release of his first Netflix special, Showman, last year.

Dutch channel SBS6 is also making its own version of the show, which has aired for 12 episodes across two series in the UK.

The Wheel has regularly attracted more than five million viewers to BBC One on Saturday nights, despite some critics finding the format convoluted.

Mcintyre and Baldwin’s production company Hungry McBear will produce the US version with Warner Horizon, Hollywood trade website Deadline reports.
