Woman collapses at Adam Kay show

NHS staff to the rescue... again

Adam Kay had to cut short his show at the Manchester Opera House last night when a woman collapsed in the audience.

It’s the third time the comic's show based on his bestselling junior doctor diaries has been halted by a medical emergency… and the third time off-duty NHS staff came to the rescue.

After the show, Kay tweeted that the ‘person who collapsed is doing well’.

Her mother also thanked the medical staff who looked after her daughter, telling the comic: ‘She is totally mortified to have stolen your show Adam  and huge thanks to the opera house staff who were fantastic too.’

Kay replied: 'She mustn't feel bad in the slightest, I and I'm sure the entire audience are just delighted she's doing ok. (The last few minutes of the show are rubbish anyway.) I echo your thanks to the brilliant doctors and theatre staff.’

In 2019, an audience member fainted in Kay's show at the Garrick Theatre in London.  ‘As soon as the lights went on, there was a literal swarm of doctors,’ he later said – reflecting the make-up of the audiences he attracts.

He told his 157,000 Twitter followers the same thing had happened three times now.
