Covid halts James Corden's new comedy

Star had to isolate for a week

Filming of James Corden’s new comedy Mammals has been halted after someone on the production was tested positive for Covid.

The Gavin & Stacey star had to self-isolate for a week along with other cast and crew.

Paddington and The Shape of Water actress Sally Hawkins  also stars in the six-part show, while  Tom Jones has a cameo,

The Covid incident happened a couple of weeks ago, The Sun reports, with filming now resumed in London and Cornwall.

Mammals has been written by Britannia co-creator Jez Butterworth, who has been vague about the premise beyond hinting that it is  about the challenges of marriage.

When the Amazon Prime show was announced last month, Butterworth was full of praise for Corden, saying: ‘His performance in One Man Two Guvnors was like seeing Mickey Rooney, Terry-Thomas and The Marx Brothers rolled into one. His Smithy in Gavin and Stacey is for the ages – he took a needy, big-hearted mess of a supporting character and made it iconic.

‘But neither is a patch on his Sea Monster in The Late Late Show  Shape of Water sketch with Sally Hawkins. Google it.’
