The Day Today cast reunite for Radio 4
The cast of The Day Today have reunited for a Radio 4 documentary about their groundbreaking news parody.
Armando Iannucci, Rebecca Front, David Schneider, Steve Coogan and Doon Mackichan were all interviewed by Kirsty Walk for the programme, part of the channel’s The Reunion strand.
However, frontman and co-creator Chris Morris was not part of the show, which will air on August 15.
Although the date is just six days after the 30th anniversary of the day the show’s radio precursor, On The Hour, first aired, its focus will be on the TV incarnation.
The BBC says: ‘Satirising the form of news presentation, with a groundbreaking use of comedic graphics and music that always went on slightly too long, the joke was always on the pomposity of news and how it was presented.’
It was the programme that first brought Alan Partridge to the screen as a sports reporter, alongside other correspondents such as Peter O’Hanraha-hanrahan, Rosy May and Collaterlie Sisters.
The Reunion: The Day Today airs on Radio 4 at 11am on August 15.
