Comics launch spoof tech podcast for the BBC

...as Room Next Door comic Michael Spicer turns podcaster too

Comedians Olga Koch, Huge Davies and Greig Johnson are making a new spoof podcast for BBC Sounds

In Tech Tech Boom, hosts Carol and Joe, with their elderly sidekick, Alphonse, will embrace all technology with huge enthusiasm whether it be patently pointless and absurd, or deeply sinister.

Russian-born Koch, who has a background in computer science, said: ‘Tech Tech Boom was written and recorded in lockdown as a silly and goofy satire of the tech world and I can confidently say that we must be at least partially responsible for Elon Musk hosting Saturday Night Live.

‘Honestly, making it a reality with the team has been a highlight of my comedy career and I'm happy my computer science degree has finally come in handy.’

The podcast, which is being produced by Zeppotron, will launch on Monday, with a teaser already available on BBC Sounds.

Meanwhile, Room Next Door comedian Michael Spicer is also launching a new podcast.

It Happened To Me will feature guests telling stories of the life-changing events - including ‘I joined a cult and accidentally killed its leader’ and ‘I performed magic to the man who burgled my house’  –  with each of them played by the comic.

Producer and writer Matt Tiller, who regularly collaborates with Spicer, will play the interviewer in the series, which launches next Tuesday. Subscribe here.
