Call My Agent's UK cast revealed
The core cast has been revealed for the UK remake of Call My Agent.
Lydia Leonard, whose credits include Gentleman Jack and the historical medical comedy Quacks, will play the lead character of Alexa, based on Camille Cottin’s stylish theatrical agent Andréa Martel.
The cast will also include Jack Davenport, from This Life and Coupling; Maggie Steed, who was Esther in Michaela Coel’s Chewing Gum; Blackadder's Tim McInnerny; Jim Broadbent and Rebecca Humphries, known for her live work as well as TV roles such as Lucy Two in Friday Night Dinner.
John Morton, who wrote the self-referential BBC comedy W1A, is working on new versions of the scripts.
According to industry website Deadline, which broke the casting news, the remake will ‘incorporate Morton’s British sensibility and introduce some new storylines’.
The French version, known as Dix Pour Cent after the cut the agents' cut of their clients' fees, has become an international hit on Netflix, and is noted for its cameos from the likes of Sigourney Weaver and Charlotte Gainsbourg.
British and American A-listers are expected to make appearances in the new version, but no names have been revealed.
Eight hour-long episodes are being shot between now and September, Deadline reports.
The cast will also include Prasanna Puwanarajah, Fola Evans-Akingbola, and newcomers Eleanor Arnaud, Harry Trevaldwyn, Hiftu Quasem.
