Tough Crowd out next year

Andi Osho is writing a novel based on her experiences of stand-up.

Tough Crowd, which is due out next year, revolves around an aspiring comedian who has to win over two stepdaughters when she embarks on a new relationship.

The comic turned actor - currently seen as murdered journalist Gail Vella in BBC One smash Line Of Duty - told comedy.co.uk: 'Having been in a relationship with a single dad, I can Testify to what a profound, challenging and illuminating experience it can b. Tough Crowd is about all that and I hope it goes some way to dispelling the myth of the "evil stepmother".

She added that the plot is  a 'fond farewell to my days on stage... readers get to enjoy the insane ups and downs of life as an open-mic comic, all from the safety of their own homes'.

It will be her second novel after her debut, the romantic comedy Asking For A Friend, was released in February. She already has a deal with publisher HQ for a third book.

Osho revealed she is on the first draft of Tough Crowd on Richard Herring's latest RHLSTP podcast.

HQ commissioning editor Katie Seaman said: ' Andi is a natural storyteller. She writes relatable characters and relationships with such honesty, warmth and wit, for truly entertaining reads that women of all ages can enjoy. I can't wait to publish Tough Crowd next year - it promises to be the laugh-out-loud hit of the summer.'

It can be ordered from Amazon here.
