Netflix special for Loyiso Gola
Loyiso Gola has recorded his first full-length Netflix special.
The comic taped Unlearning at the Zeitz Museum of Modern Art in his native Cape Town late last year.
Now the streaming service has announced that the show, all about him ‘unlearning’ the historic superiority that black people grew up with in South Africa, will be released on March 23.
Netflix says: ‘With his sharp observations, satirical wit and philosophical contemplations, Loyiso challenges societal norms and makes you question everything you thought you knew about politics, race and history.’
Gola previously recorded a half-hour special at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival, released as part of Netflix’s Comedians Of The World series, and a full-length show in New York, released via Vimeo.
He has fronted Late Nite News with Loyiso Gola on South Africa for 12 seasons, and in the UK has appeared on Live At The Apollo, 8 Out Of 10 Cats, Mock the Week and QI .
