Comedian unveiled as Masked Singer semi-finalist

Sue Perkins was unveiled as the celebrity inside the Dragon costume on The Masked Singer tonight.

None of the judges correctly guessed the comedian and former Great British Bake-Off host was the mystery star.

She said that she loved the freedom performing in disguise gave her, telling host Joel Dommett: 'Being dragon is liberating and brilliant, I have been able to be playful and silly and childlike, and things you can't be.'

'I would never ever sing, and that’s the reason I so wanted to do this. I am terrified of performing in public. What would be interesting is me singing without the mask, let's see if it broke the spell for me.’

’Everyone should unleash their inner dragon, or blob, or whatever they’ve got.’

Bookies did have Perkins as second favourite to be Dragon, behind drag artist Courtney Act. Michelle Visage, Ian H Watkins and Miranda Hart had also been touted as possibles.

For her final performance on the show, Perkins sang Adele’s Make You Feel My Love.

Singer Gabrielle was also revealed as the singer behind Harlequin on tonight’s semi-final of the ITV show, which featured Matt Lucas as a guest judge.

Last week, Blob was revealed to be Sir Lenny Henry.
