James Buckley comedy gets a new platform on the BBC

Fantasy sitcom Zapped, which was originally made for Dave, has landed on BBC iPlayer.

The corporation bought the rights to all three series of the show, which stars James Buckley as a data marketing assistant who is accidentally transported to a parallel world of mystical creatures, magical forces and psychopathic fairies.

Originally screened from 2016 to 2018, the comedy co-stars Paul Kaye, Sharon Rooney, Louis Emerick and Kenneth Collard.

It also features guest appearances from Steve Coogan, Sally Phillips, Rufus Hound, Mark Heap, Tracy-Ann Oberman, Guz Khan, Tim Key, Sylvester McCoy, Nina Wadia and Susan Wokoma.

Buckley said: ‘Zapped was a joy to a make. I got to spend three years working with Paul Kaye, Sharon Rooney and Steve Coogan. I’m delighted it’s going to be available on iPlayer and can’t wait for more people to discover it."

Coogan, who was also executive producer through his company Baby Cow, added: ‘We had a great time making Zapped. It’s weird, warm and brilliantly funny. Pure escapism. The perfect lockdown binge watch.’

The show, written by Dan Gaster, Will Ing and Paul Powell, is streaming on iPlayer now.
