Bill Bailey to host a new panel show

(But in New Zealand)

Bill Bailey is to host a new TV panel show… but in New Zealand.

The comedian and Strictly Come Dancing will chair the new show Patriot Brains, in which Kiwis and Australians battle it out to prove they know the most about their own country.

The show will also air on SBS Viceland in Australia.

Bailey will be filming the show in March and April when he tours his new stand-up show En Route To Normal down under.

Bailey will be one of the first international acts to make the trip to New Zealand post-Covid, following Russell Howard, who is there now.

The comedian said: ‘I am very much looking forward to hosting Patriot Brains, and a chance to referee a spirited international debate between two rival countries, which could end up as a right old ding-dong. A ding-dong which I hope to be thought-provoking, informative and hilarious.’

Some of the topics teased in advance include what country has the most outdated law, who has the best road movie, and which country has the best Prime Minister.

New Zealand maintains strict quarantine laws, with its borders closed for all but exceptional cases, who even then have to  quarantine for two weeks on arrival.

Patriot Brains will air on TVNZ 2 in the coming months.
