Miles Jupp visits Santa's post office
Miles Jupp is presenting a Radio 4 show about letters to Father Christmas.
The comic visits Santa’s post office in the Arctic Circle for the programme,...And Please Can I Have A Unicorn And World Peace?
Workers there deal with around 500,000 letters every year, sent from around the world.
And he speaks to Joanna Espin from The British Postal Museum about how historic letters to Santa show evidence of poverty, loss, consumerism and affluence offering a social history of the times. One child in the late 19th Centurym whose father had died from smallpox, proves especially poignant.
And Jupp also speaks to Pat Koch, who deals with letters sent to the town of in Santa Claus, Indiana.
The half-hour show will air on Radio 4 on December 21 from 8pm
