Munya Chawawa's alter-ego signs with Atlantic

Munya Chawawa has signed to Atlantic Records.

The comedian, who’s grown his fan base through online video, is to release an album as his alter-ego Unknown P, a posh drill rapper.

His breakthrough appearance rapping on Charlie Sloth’s Radio 1 Xtra show Fire In The Booth last year has attracted 6,5million views on YouTube alone,

'I’ve signed to Atlantic Records!’ he said, on Twitter. ‘Two years of sketches, one Fire in the Booth and a few middle class bars later and here we are!

‘Thank you for supporting my parodies & sharing my sketches. I’m so grateful and deffo cracking open a Shloer tonight.’

Chawawa also posted a video of himself in character  in which he said ‘Anything is possible if you’re posh and from a middle class background.’

The video also appears to reveal Unknown P’s ‘real’ name, showing a record contract signed by ‘Percy Picklesworth’.

By signing with Atlantic he becomes label-mates with the likes of Stormzy, Cardi B, Lizzo and Ed Sheeran.
