Space Force gets a second mission
Netflix has ordered a second season of Space Force, its workplace comedy starring Steve Carell as the head of a new branch of the US military.
Production on the new episodes is set to start in Vancouver next year, it has been reported.
Carell co-created the series with Greg Daniels, who previously developed the US version of The Office, and stars alongside John Malkovich, Ben Schwartz and comedian Jimmy O Yang, who joins the writing team for the new series.
Friends star Lisa Kudrow had a recurring role in the first series but has not been mentioned in the list of returning cast reported in the Hollywood trade press.
The first ten episodes of Space Force were released in May this year, but received only lukewarm reviews.
Aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes says it had an approval rating of just below six out of ten, concluding: ‘An all-star cast and blockbuster-worthy special effects aren't enough to keep Space Force's uneven blend of earnestness and satire from spinning quickly out of comedic orbit.’
