Sky to air John Belushi documenary
Sky Documentaries has bought the rights to a new feature-length film about John Belushi.
And here are some rare, candid images of the comedy star from the movie.
Using previously unheard audiotapes, the film examines Belushi’s life through the words of his collaborators, friends, and family, including Penny Marshall, Jim Belushi, Lorne Michaels, Chevy Chase, Dan Ackroyd, and more.
Belushi was one of the founding cast members on Saturday Night Live, appearing on the weekly show while filming Animal House and forming a band, The Blues Brothers. The result was that by the age of 30, he was on the No1 television show, had the No1 movie comedy and the No1 album.
But he also had a wild lifestyle and died on March 5, 1982, at the age of 33, after being injected with a mixture of heroin and cocaine at the Chateau Marmont hotel in Los Angeles.
The new movie, entitled simply Belushi, has been made by RJ Cutler, who already who also directed the upcoming Billie Eilish documentary, The World’s A Little Blurry.
It will screen on Sky Documentaries and Now TV on Friday November 27 at 9pm, five days after its debut on America’s Showtime network.
