Just 30 mourners will be at Bobby Ball's funeral
Fewer than 30 people will attend Bobby Ball’s funeral later this month because of the coronavirus lockdown.
But before he is laid to rest, the procession will drive around the Blackpool Tower in honour of his showbusiness achievements.
Details of the private event, to be held on November 17, have been released today.
Covid restrictions limit the number of mourners allowed, but details of the route his coffin will take have been released so fans can pay their respects. However, social distancing must still be observed – and national lockdown means only ‘absolutely essential’ travel is allowed.
The family has said flowers are welcome or donations to two charities Bobby was a patron of: Blue Skies Hospital Fund and Lowther Pavillion in Lytham where the procession will start at 11.40am.
It will then go via Church Road and Market Square to Warton Street. And after the church service ends at 1pm, the procession it will make his way to Blackpool Tower, where it is due to arrive at 1.35pm.
Ball - whose real surname was Harper- died last week at the age of 76 after testing positive for Covid-19.
His long-term comedy partner Tommy Cannon said: 'I’m absolutely devastated, I’ve lost my partner, my best friend and the funniest man I know. Thank you for your messages, prayers and love'
