Al Murray's new BBC comedy - as himself

Pub Landlord won't feature in new Radio 4 show

Al Murray is making a new Radio 4 sketch show, away from his Pub Landlord alter-ego.

Totally Out Of Character promises to reveal the man behind the burgundy blazer, with its official description reading: ‘Based on the things people shout in his general direction on the street, plenty of folk think they know the real Al, but how right are they? Join us to find out!’

Murray has appeared as himself to host history documentaries and the Great British Pub Quiz for Quest. And in 2009 he put the Pub Landlord character behind him for the ITV sketch show Murray's Multiple Personality Disorder – but it was largely trashed by critics as being ‘crass’, ‘crude’ and 'lazy’.

Totally Out Of Character  is to be recorded at the end of this month in front of a virtual studio audience on Zoom. Click here to apply for tickets.
