Michael McIntyre writes a second autobiography
Michael McIntyre is writing a second volume of his autobiography, to be released next year.
The new title will be a follow-up to 2010’s Life And Laughing, which covered his early life and his rise through the ranks of comedy, from struggling open spot to playing the Royal Variety Performance in 2006.
Since then, he has been broken countless stand-up records, including being the best-selling act to appear at London’s O2, breaking Take That’s total to shift more than 400,000 tickets over 28 shows; and playing the biggest comedy gig in Africa, to 9,000 fans in Johannesburg.
The comic revealed that he had been writing the autobiography during lockdown
‘I’ve been writing another memoir, which will be released next year,’ he told The Sun.
‘I always have to write first thing in the morning. I literally only have about two hours of the day when I am capable of anything.’
He was speaking to promote the release of his stand-up special Showman on Netflix from Tuesday, It was filmed at the London Palladium on March 6, just before the lockdown – and was the last gig McIntrye did.
But he said he has not been tempted to perform a drive-in show during the pandemic.
’It’s bad enough if you see someone walk out halfway through your show and you wonder if they are going to the loo or they hate you. I can’t have someone drive out and wonder if they need petrol!’
