Breakout project for SNL star

Saturday Night Live star Michael Che is making his own sketch show for American streaming service HBO Max.

Each episode will follow a theme such as police brutality, unemployment and romance, with the broadcaster saying Che's aim was to be honest rather  than ‘right’.

The six-part series, yet to be titled, will be  executive produced by SNL maestro Lorne Michael.

Che said of his new show: ‘It’s a project I’ve been thinking about for a while and we have a lot of sketches we want to shoot so please wear your masks so that we can go into production.’

Suzanna Makkos from HBO Max added: ‘Michael brings a distinct comedic perspective as he illustrates the uncomfortable truths across multiple topics. We look forward to sharing his unique vision and necessary point of view with our audiences.’
