From drugs to jobs
Jacob Hawley is to launch a new BBC podcast about working lives in the time of a pandemic.
The new show, Jacob Hawley's Job Centre, which launches tomorrow, was inspired by him losing his stand-up job because of lockdown.
He said: 'I want to talk to people in a similar boat to me; people who became unemployed overnight. I want to explore how entertainers are now considering their career and what value the nation is putting on entertainment.'
But he added that he also wanted to speak to essential workers, from paramedics to sewage workers, saying: 'I want to talk to them to see if they see themselves differently now people are calling them heroes?'
Confirmed guests include fellow comics Richard Gadd, Iain Stirling and Mark Olver, actress Danusia Samal, and Mr Motivator.
The podcasts follows the success of his previous BBC Sounds Jacob Hawley On Drugs, which won him a silver Radio Academy award for best new presenter earlier this year.
