Comedians join Grayson’s Art Club on C4

Vic Reeves, Joe Lycett, Harry Hill and Jessica Hynes

Vic Reeves, Joe Lycett, Harry Hill and Jessica Hynes are to take part in a new Grayson Perry art show for Channel 4.

In the series, the Turner prize-winning will make video calls to all the celebrities from his studio to encourage people in lockdown to get creative.

All the comedians are known for their sidelines in painting, while Hynes has a degree in art history.

Lycett will feature in Monday’s first episode of Grayson’s Art Club on the subject of portraits. He had his own exhibition in London’s Saville Row last year, while a clay head he created was accepted into the Royal Academy’s summer exhibition in 2018, but failed to fetch the £12.5million he was asking for it.

Others taking part include sculptor Antony Gormley and artist Tacita Dean.

Grayson’s Art Club starts at 8pm on Monday on Channel 4
