Ed cancels his European tour over coronavirus fears

Ed Gamble has had to pull all his European dates because of the coronavirus epidemic.

The Mock The Week comedian has been advised to take special precautions against the bug because he is a type 1 diabetic – which means the symptoms would be more severe if he caught it.

The comic was supposed to take his Blizzard tour to Stavanger in Norway tonight with subsequent gigs in Stockholm, Oslo, Copenhagen, Eindhoven, Antwerp Amsterdam and Athens over the next two weeks.

In a series of tweets today he wrote: ‘I’m very very sorry to announce that I will be rescheduling the European dates below.

I am in a high risk group with this whole coronavirus kerfuffle (type 1 diabetic, don’t think I’ve ever mentioned it), so have been advised to stay at home.

‘This was not an easy decision to make, but the most sensible. We are looking at rescheduling for later this year. Your tickets will still be valid, if you can’t make the new dates, we will refund you at point of purchase..

‘Massive apologies again, I’m really bummed out about it, but looking forward to when this all blows over and I can jump on a plane and start open mouth kissing again.’

Dan Howarth of Diabetes UK said: ‘Coronavirus or Covid-19 can cause more severe symptoms and complications in people with diabetes.’
