James Veitch to front US comedy show
British stand-up James Veitch is to host a comedy show on new US streaming service Quibi. it has been announced.
In Q Talks, celebrity speakers give ‘expert’ talks – but with the script fed to them by a rigged teleprompter, which they must obey rigidly.
Guests lined up include Friends star Lisa Kudrow, Girls Trip actress Regina Hall and comedian Kristen Schaal. Bridesmaids and Ghostbusters director Paul Feig is among the executive producers.
Launching on April 6, Quibi will specialise in short-form content to its paying subscribers. The platform was founded by former Disney chairman Jeffrey Katzenberg.
Veitch is already known for his own TED Talks, with his account of replying to spam email the most-watched video on the organisation’s YouTube channel, with 43million views.
The comic also has a stand-up special coming to the HBO Max streaming service in the US and last year followed in the footsteps of Jack Whitehall, Stephen Fry and Billy Connolly by hosting the Bafta Britannia Awards in Los Angeles.
